SOMME
Combining life sciences and engineering, SOMME is a consulting company specialized in the observation of marine ecosystems using innovative technologies, to describe their state and their responses to anthropogenic pressures.
Expert in passive acoustics, SOMME is a privileged interlocutor for in situ measurement, processing and ecological analysis of underwater sounds.
For 10 years, SOMME has accumulated more than 25 years of recorded acoustic data through 20 acoustic studies of various maritime activities and 8 research projects conducted in different parts of the world.

Acoustic studies: support for maritime projects
By intervening on many maritime projects, the consulting company SOMME has specialized in the study of underwater noise generated by human activities (Marine Renewable Energies, port development, maritime traffic, etc.). We offer solutions adapted to each stage of your projects (initial state, construction phase, operational phase).
Passive Acoustic Monitoring
Study and monitoring of soundscapes and their components. Characterization of ambient noise. Marine mammals detection.
Numerical simulations
Acoustic propagation modelling and estimation of the project’s acoustic footprint and potential impacts on marine wildlife.
Measurements of emitted noise
Definition and application of acoustic measurement protocols to characterize noise generated by marine activities.
Real-time monitoring
Continuous monitoring of sound levels emitted in the environment. Visualization of real-time data via our dedicated user platforms.
Research and development
Member of the Bebest International Associated Laboratory and partner of TBM environnement, SOMME is invested in various research programs in the fields of marine ecology, bioacoustics and environmental acoustics. The knowledge and skills developed enable us to improve the methods used in acoustic studies.
Long-term monitoring
Implementation of environmental data acquisition platforms (acoustics, physico-chemical parameters).
Acoustic impacts
Definition and implementation of equipment and methods to study the impact of sounds generated by human activities on marine fauna.
Monitoring of marine organisms
Development of methods for monitoring marine organisms (bivalves) using innovative technologies.
Study sites
